Your Kitchen in Vastu
The kitchen is Agni's domain — the Southeast corner of the Vastu Purusha Mandala where the fire element reigns supreme. The stove must face East so the cook faces sunrise energy while preparing food. The kitchen sink (water element) must be in the NE corner of the kitchen — as far from the stove as possible — to prevent fire-water elemental clash within the cooking space. The grain store goes in the SW corner of the kitchen for stability. Classical texts prescribe that the kitchen should never share a wall with the bathroom, and the cooking platform height should match the cook's navel level. The kitchen is the energetic engine of the home — its correct placement and internal arrangement affect the health, prosperity, and harmony of the entire family.
