The kitchen door should ideally open from the East or North side of the kitchen — allowing the cook to receive auspicious energy as they enter. The door should NOT face a bathroom door (see ED-085). It should open inward into the kitchen. Ideally, the door threshold provides a transition between the fire-zone kitchen and the adjacent room's energy.

A kitchen door opening from the South or West side is acceptable if it doesn't face a bathroom or toilet. The key prohibitions are: never face a bathroom door, never face a staircase directly, and never be the first thing visible from the main entrance.
